You are a procrastinator. And by you, I actually mean me. Well unless you are a procrastinator too then welcome, you’ve some how landed in the right place.
The idea to start this blog came to me in November 2016. Yikes! almost three years ago. Originally I wanted to post about how individuals interpret success, follow and document folks on the brink of said success, and offer motivational content that inspires the underdog to pursue their passion regardless of circumstance.
This is all good and great but when the author of the blog is a closet procrastinator (Screams YOU ARE A PROCRASTINATOR again) it is kind of hard to create motivational content. So what happened? I became a consumer. Watching (YouTube mostly), reading, having creative outburst but stifling them in self doubt, and achieving nothing.
Becoming A Consumer
I’ve watched people “come up” in those three years by being consistent with their ideas and having unwavering faith in the creative path they were creating for themselves. People like Podcaster Nicaila Matthews Okome of SideHustle Pro, Law of Attraction You Tuber Aaron Doughty, and even Jennifer Connor of Your Youniverse, the list could go on and on!
The point is, while I was wasting time being a consumer of content instead of a creator, other people were putting in the work and are now reaching the levels of success that follows consistent hard (and smart) work. I am a creative at heart. I find myself struggling at times in my 9 to 5 because ideally, it is not the right environment for me and it always feel like something is missing from my day to day. Now I know exactly what is missing…life! A creative one!
Finally, I decided to write the FIRST blog post for the FIFTH time. But this time actually post it. I also decided to stop procrastinating and using the line of”not having enough content” as an excuse to post. Or even the good old “but my website isn’t ready or doesn’t look how I want it”. BYE Felicia, to that nonsense!
I also worried about finding self proclaimed underdogs to interview. But in hindsight the most apparent underdog to share their story, is myself.
You Will Never Be Ready!
I will never be ready. You will never be ready, so just start. And I will never have content, if I don’t start!
So I will document my story from a lazy procrastinatoring consumer to one who creates greatness that makes my heart and those who cross my path, sing. Along the way I will meet the people I am destined to connect with and share their stories as well.
So here were are, one magical post added to the universe. I hope this tiny space I am trying to create on the internet serves to be an inspiration to those that need the push to make that first step. And I believe the first step is always a modestly magnificent one.
